Change

“But if we keep living in the pure light that surrounds him, we share unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses us from all sin.”

1 John 1:7 TPT

“In the city of Jericho there lived a very wealthy man named Zacchaeus, who was the supervisor over all the tax collectors. As Jesus made his way through the city, Zacchaeus was eager to see Jesus. He kept trying to get a look at him, but the crowd around Jesus was massive. Zacchaeus was a very short man and couldn’t see over the heads of the people.

Jesus said to him, “This shows that today life has come to you and your household, for you are a true son of Abraham. The Son of Man has come to seek out and to give life to those who are lost.” So he ran on ahead of everyone and climbed up a blossoming fig tree so he could get a glimpse of Jesus as he passed by. When Jesus got to that place, he looked up into the tree and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry on down, for I am appointed to stay at your house today!” So he scurried down the tree and came face-to-face with Jesus. As Jesus left to go with Zacchaeus, many in the crowd complained, “Look at this! Of all the people to have dinner with, he’s going to eat in the house of a crook.” Zacchaeus joyously welcomed Jesus and was amazed over his gracious visit to his home. Zacchaeus stood in front of the Lord and said, “Half of all that I own I will give to the poor. And Lord, if I have cheated anyone, I promise to pay back four times as much as I stole.”” Luke 19:1-10 TPT

Zacchaeus was a very wealthy man
A senior tax collector
He had made most of his money
By fraudulent tax collections
The people he had robbed
Hated Zac for his deception
This short but powerful man
Had no one that really loved him

Jesus came to Zac’s hometown
And the crowds they rushed to see Him
For Jesus amazing reputation
It had proceeded Him
They wanted to see miracles
Hear the great man’s teaching
Perhaps receive a blessing themselves
And Zac went eagerly with them

The crowds they were massive
And Zacchaeus could not see
He was to short to see over
So he went and climbed a tree
He wanted to see for himself
If what they said was true
If Jesus was so powerfully loving
Of sinners so forgiving

There was a hope deep in Zac’s heart
Even he was not aware of
A hope that one day he could be
Someone who was loved and cared for
Someone who was generous
Giving and kind
Someone just like Jesus
Loving all of mankind

As Jesus drew nearer
And Zac could see His face
This hope flamed up within him
And in hope he held his breath
Then Jesus looked Zac’s way
Smiled when He saw him
Made His way to Zac’s tree
And spoke straight to him

Much to everyone’s surprise
Jesus spoke lovingly to Zac
Told him to hurry down
So He could Zac’s home visit
Jesus spoke as though he knew
Zacchaeus would be there
Knew who Zacchaeus was
And yet acted like He cared

Zacchaeus hurried down
Meeting Jesus face to face
And the crowd were horrified
As Jesus walked Zac to his place
Did Jesus really not know
What kind of man Zac was?
How could such a godly man
Choose to eat with such a swindler?

But Jesus knew better
He knew what was in Zac’s heart
Knew that money had been
What Zac had though would buy him love
He knew that what Zac needed
Was God’s love and forgiveness
And the power to change
That comes from God’s loving Presence

So ignoring the crowd
Jesus went home with Zacchaeus
And the Presence of God in Jesus
His love and forgiveness
Healed Zac’s heart and mind
As Jesus journeyed with him
A miracle took place in Zac
As he was freed from sin

In the presence of Jesus
And many other people
Zacchaeus stood and repented
Of the fraud he had committed
He promised to repay fourfold
The people he had cheated
Give half his wealth to the poor
An astounding declaration

This is what God’s Presence
His love and forgiveness
Does in a sinners heart
When they experience Him living in it
He makes us holy, just like Jesus
Giving, loving and forgiving
What we receive from God we share
Through His Powerful Holy Spirit

This is why Jesus came
To bring us all back to God
Jesus came to save this world
From our broken and sinful hearts
Without a transformation
God’s healing from within
The power to change to loving
By sin’s deception is hidden

With the light of Jesus Presence
Living in our hearts
Our ears open to His voice
Receiving His love and power
We can see where we go wrong
Choose love instead of sin
We are empowered to change
Till like Jesus we live.

The Mind’s Transformation

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” Romans 12:2 TPT

When We can know
That Jesus is real
Alive in people
To give love to this world
It breaks through our defences
To fill us with His love
It transforms our being
To be His Glory

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

When we can know
That we were God’s planning
That He chose us personally
To be one of His family
It breaks all the lies
That tell us we’re unworthy
And restores us to wholeness
Living in God’s Glory

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

When we experience
The fullness of God’s forgiveness
Wiping out all our sin
So all is forgotten
It frees us to live
Each moment anew
To explore the freedom
Of living His Holy Glory

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

When we learn to live in
God as our main resource
A river of His life
Becomes our life’s essence
His love and forgiveness
His joy, peace and hope
Become ours to live in
And share with this world

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

When we learn to rely on
God’s Spirit for our thinking
Soak in His Presence
Ask questions, receive answers
The Wisdom of God
Becomes our guiding light
Transforms our hearts and minds
Renews all our thinking

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

When we experience
God’s power to restore us
To His loving image
Filling us with His Glory
We know there’s no limit
To what He can do through us
And we want to be active
To restore this world’s goodness

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

There is nothing God has
That He withholds from us
All Jesus inherits
Is through Him made ours
Forgiveness, healing
Love, joy and peace
The power to restore
To live holy, complete

Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

So when this life
Throws it’s curveballs at us
And what’s bad looks good
Or our heart is breaking
When sickness or loss
Seem to be our portion
Turn to God in faith
With these as your questions

Is there another way to think
A point of view I am not seeing?
Show me please Lord
Give me Your vision
Is there another way to respond
A way of being I could be living?
Transform me please Lord
To Your way of living

The Storm

“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”” Luke 8:22-25 NLT

“For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,

For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you … too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” Colossians 1:19, 27 NLT

Jesus took His disciples
On an interesting journey
Across a large lake
In a boat for that many
As they sailed across
He lay down for a nap
Jesus had no worries
To keep Him awake

For Jesus knew
That He had a destiny
And nothing would stop God
From making it be
He knew He could rest
In God’s loving hands
That journey was not
The end of God’s plans

Jesus also knew
That God could be trusted
To keep His word
Once it was established
So He could rest
Unconcerned as He travelled
With God as protector
Nothing Him troubled

Jesus also could rest
In His own identity
As God’s beloved Son
With God’s Spirit in Him
The hands that made stars
Powerful words that created
We’re living in Him
To provide what He needed

This same Jesus
Who could rest anywhere
Is living in us
With His loving care
We can rest in His faith
Rest in His Presence
For His Spirit seals us
Into His essence

For in Jesus we know
We have a destiny
And nothing will stop God
From making it be
We know we can rest
In God’s loving hands
Today’s journey is not
The end of God’s plans

With Jesus faith we know
That God can be trusted
To keep His word
Now it is established
So we can rest
Unconcerned as we travel
With God as protector
Nothing can us trouble

We can also rest living
In Jesus’ identity
Making us God’s beloved Sons
His Spirit in us eternally
The hands that made stars
Powerful words that created
Are living in us
To provide what is need

A very fierce storm
Came down the lake
Water filling the boat
Making it unsafe
The disciples were worried
They started to panic
No doubt they knew
Storms could do fatal damage

They were so gripped with fear
They could not see
That Jesus’ word to travel
Was their surety
With Jesus sleeping
Their safety was certain
Nothing would harm them
Or endanger their mission

Instead of taking
Their wisdom from Jesus
The disciples panicked
And woke Him from sleeping
Shouting their fear
Like He was not listening
They put their trust in
The storm as their ending

So often it seems
When life throws us a storm
All we see is the danger
It all seems so threatening
We forget Jesus
Living peacefully within us
And His word to us
Which our future guarantees us

Jesus woke up
And spoke to the storm
Commanded it be still
And it obeyed His word
The storm was abated
Gone in a moment
And Jesus’ authority
Became self-evident

Then Jesus questioned
His disciples thinking
For they had seen Him
Many miracles making
If He could heal and deliver
Make one lunch feed thousands
Why had they more faith
In the storm’s manifestations?

This is the question
That life’s storms ask us
In whom do you trust
For all your answers
Do you really trust
In Jesus, God’s Son?
Or do your problems
Seem the bigger one?

The disciples were awestruck
At Jesus’ power
And authority
That made the Storm cower
They had yet to see
Jesus was God incarnate
Our Divine Creator
There in person to save them

When we look at Jesus
We should be awestruck
At His great power
To provide solutions
No one who sought Him
For help with a need
Left empty handed
Or at all disappointed

Now this same Jesus
Is living in us
We can see through His eyes
And in God trust
When storms rage around us
But we find Him sleeping
We can rest in Him
For His word is our keeping

For just as God
Was in Jesus living
In His Beloved Son
All His Glory revealing
So Jesus in us
Fills us with God’s fullness
To live victoriously
Through His loving kindness

The Wedding

Imagine you are a contestant on one of those matchmaking TV ‘reality’ shows, like ‘married at first sight’, and you are one of the brides-to-be.

As a contestant, you have been given detailed descriptions of each of the prospective grooms, including photographs, assessments of their strengths, weaknesses, finances, prospects, interests, work and personal values. Without meeting any of them personally, you get to choose which one you would like to marry.

Some are easy to eliminate. They don’t like cats or children or pizza. One or two come across as arrogant and self-entered. One is clearly a serious adventure seeker and you are not sure you could keep up with him.

But as you pour through the reports on each one, one just seems to stand out, to stick in your mind. He is not the best looking, or the wealthiest, or the fittest looking, but somehow his report gives the impression of a genuinely kind and amusing man. One who would listen and care. One you could share your innermost thoughts with and not be laughed at. One who would laugh and cry with you rather than at you. One you could enjoy doing life with. So you put him as your first choice.

Later that day you are informed he also choose you! You got your first choice! Your heart leaps with anticipation and nervousness. You so want to meet him, talk to him, and find out if he is really like you think. Yet you are also nervous that he will somehow not be what you thought him to be or that you will disappoint him in some way. Excited and nervous you wait for your wedding day meeting, pouring over his report and getting yourself as ready as you can.

The next day your wedding dress arrives. You put it on excitedly and are astounded. Never in your life have you had a dress that is so flattering. Even without the makeup and jewellery you will have on the day, you can’t believe how beautiful the dress makes you look. It is like a dream come true.

Then the wedding planner comes to see you and all their suggestions and arrangements are just the ones you would have chosen! The bouquets of red and white roses. The simple yet elegant wedding cake. The open air venue with a chapel, surrounded by native bushland. The music to your taste. And enough spaces to invite all those you would want to be there. It all seems magical and you are told the groom likes it too!

The wedding day comes and with it all the wardrobe team from the TV show. You are pampered, dressed, bedecked, made up and primped till you struggle to recognise the stunning beauty that looks back at you from the mirror.

Your bridesmaids and made-of-honour arrive looking just as spectacular as you expected. Their dark sky blue dresses have hints of sparkle here and there as thought there are stars hidden by the fabric and they too have been pampered, bedecked and primped. You greet them warmly and you laugh nervously together as you talk about the evenings events to come and how great it will be to have and intimate partner with which you can share the ups and downs of life.

The time comes to leave for the wedding and you all climb into the special white cars waiting for you and drive to the chapel in the bush.

At the door you meet and greet your father. “I am so proud of you!” He says.

The wedding march music begins and the bridesmaids followed by the maid of honour start down the central aisle. As you enter the chapel you see a sea of faces smiling at you, some with the hint of a tear in their eye. Looking past them all you look down further to see the groom and your heart skips a beat. You can see the best man and groomsman but no groom! In fact, about where you would expect the groom to be standing there is simply a very large book!

“What is going on?” You whisper to your father. “Nothing!” He says, “It is all fine! Just keep going and you will see.”

So wondering if you are really on “Candid Camera” or some other trickster TV show you keep going to the front with your eyes on the book in disbelief. When you get to the alter your father leaves you standing beside the book. Smiling he says again, “Don’t worry!” And walks to the front row where your mother is standing smiling. You look around at the congregation and they are ALL smiling. No one seems at all surprised or bothered by the fact that the groom has been replaced by a book! How could you leave now? What would look more stupid, running out or marring a book? Fixed in place by the shock of it all you remain.

The minister steps forward smiling and nodding and says, “Please be seated,” to the crowd and they sit. The minister then proceeds to go through the wedding ceremony as though the book was the groom. And when the groom was needed to respond, the right words, like “I do,” appeared on the top cover and the best man said, “The groom says “I do”. It was all so surreal that it felt like you had been planted into a weird horror movie. You kept waiting for someone to jump up and say, “Smile! You’re on candid camera!” and the book to be replaced by a smiling groom. But it never happened. And when you left the chapel for the wedding marquis, you left carrying this very large book and placed it on the grooms seat.

As the wedding celebrations took place you asked people what was going on. Why were they celebrating the fact that you had just married a book? And all of them just laughed and said, “You’ll be fine! You”ll see! Just read the book and do what is says. That is the way we all do it!”

The grooms speech was made by the best man reading from the book. The nightmare just went on and on.

As it became time to leave, you picked up the book and got into a car and drove off with the guests all cheering you off. And going into the bridle suite at the hotel the show had arranged for you that night it was just you and the book, alone, with a bottle of champagne, a basket of fruit and chocolates. You put the book down on a chair, pour yourself a glass of champagne and sit down.

Sitting down in front of the book, sipping champagne and eating chocolates, you open it and begin to read. Maybe in the book will explain what just happened?

In the book you find your groom’s life story detailed. His birth, his childhood, his schooling, his family, his career as a carpenter and then teacher, his search for a bride and how he found and chose you. Then it described the home he built for you, a mansion on the top of a hill in your favourite town. It even had a list of the rules he used to live by and was hoping his wife would embrace!

Then the story took a strange turn. For rather than stay for his wedding, he had given the best man his book and had been called home to live with his father again. And it turned out his father was a king and he was a prince! Not only that, but his father had decided to retire from ruling and had given all the authority of his kinship to the prince! His father was still there to guide and be with his son but the prince now had all the king’s authority and power! How exciting to be married to a king-prince! Maybe he would send for you and it would all be ok? A happy ever after tale?

Fortified with strawberries, chocolate and more champagne you read on in hope.

Next comes the description of how the two of you will live and reign forever together, in his house built just for you, enjoying the intimacy and love that only real partners in life can have. It is such a beautiful picture that you begin to cry in relief. He does love you and does want to do life with you!

And that is where the book ends! “What?” You cry, “But how do I get there? Is he coming for me? What do I do now?” Silence. No one is there to answer. Exhausted you fall despondently into be and go to sleep.

The following morning you crawl out of bed, shower, eat breakfast and pack, ready to go on your honey moon. Still trying to work out what you have read and make sense of it, you pick up the book and head off to your tropical island honeymoon escape. Perhaps if you study the book more carefully, without the aid of too much champagne, you will get it. So out you head, book in hand, to the airport.

On the plane you have two first class seats next to each other, one for you and one for ….. the book. Sighing, you dump the book and your bags in it and settle back to enjoy all the luxuries the flight had to offer.

After landing you are whisked to the bridal suite of a well known local resort, and ignoring the slightly puzzled look on the face of the bag carrying boy, you dump your bags and the book, grab your handbag and bathers and towel bag and head out to explore. You wander the streets of the local town, looking at all the tourist ware for sale. You have lunch in a quaint local restaurant, enjoying the fresh seafood. You spend the afternoon on one of the local beaches enjoying the sun and surf. But all of it is done, alone. And as evening falls you head back to the hotel.

One drink at the bar and the loneliness creeps in. Strange men look at you enquiringly so you flash your wedding and engagement rings, looking away but it all becomes too much. You hurriedly head back to your room, ordering room service for two, just to keep up the charade.

Watching house movies, you eat what you want of the two dinners and drink the wine as the loneliness of your situation sinks in. Crawling into bed you determine that tomorrow you will read the book again to see if it makes more sense.

After breakfast you head down to the couches by the pool, book in hand, to read. You choose a couch, order a coffee and settle down to read. Reading carefully, you again read the book from cover to cover, and though you are now quite sober, the story remains the same. Your groom planned to marry you in person but had been called home to rule instead. No explanation of what would happen next or how you could be reunited. Maybe living life by his rules would help? Sighing you put the book down and go for a swim in the pool.

Coming out of the pool to seek lunch, you notice a good-looking young man has taken up residence on the couch beside yours. Just to be polite, you smile and say “Hello.” He smiles and answers, “Hello.” to you. Sitting down you look for the lunch menu but it is no longer on the table beside you. Turning to the young man you say, “Have you seen the lunch menu? I want to order some food.” “Yes,” replies the young man, “I was just going to order some food and put the menu over here,” picking it up from the table the other side of him. As he hands the menu to you he says, “Would it seem very strange if I asked you to have lunch with me here? My girlfriend was supposed to come with me on this holiday but instead she ditched me the day before we were due to leave so I am a bit short of company.” “Sure,” you reply, “I’m in a similar boat. This was meant to be my honeymoon but my husband was called home to help his father and so I came alone too.” “Oh, how disappointing!” He replied, “Let’s get lunch!”

So you both order lunch and chat about life together and the strange circumstances which bought you together were left behind as you discovered how much you had in common interests. You had similar tastes in books, movies, music and even TV shows. It was such a great conversation you agreed to go and see tourist sights together that afternoon. And after that it seemed only natural to have dinner together.

For the rest of the week you and the young man spent your days an evenings together. You swam together, shopped together, went to tourist sights together and ate together. It all seemed so natural and fun. The only time it got a bit awkward was the evening he suggested you could spend the night together too but your firm ‘thanks but no thanks’ ended that. After all, you were still married, or at least that is what all your documents said. And fidelity in marriage was one of your husbands ‘rules to live buy’.

Occasionally, in the late evening or early morning, you take out the book again and browse through a few pages but nothing becomes clearer.

When the week and your honeymoon time was over you said goodbye to you new friend and went home. He gave you his contact details, “just in case things don’t work out with your husband…” but you dropped them in the nearest bin as you went to board your plane. No need to keep them you hope.

Back on home soil you head home. Home to your old apartment and your job and your old life, hoping that things will change, and you will be with your new husband. But as the days go by nothing changes. At first friends, family and people at work ask about the honeymoon and the new husband but the evasive answers you give mean they soon give up. As you make excuse for the absence of your husband at social events you see people’s expressions change from surprise to that being the expected norm.

Days turn into weeks and then years with no sign of your husband appearing. Gradually you have given up even looking at the book and put it away in the back of your cupboard. In the evenings the loneliness of it all haunts you. Why did they bother with the wedding ceremony if he had no intention of ever turning up? What is the point if he is never there with you? How can have a relationship, friendship, intimacy and children with a book? Even the rules to live by seem just pointless restrictions as all fuss and wonder of the wedding fades into oblivion.

Some of your family and friends tried to encourage you to work on your relationship, maybe even get counselling. After all vows had been made. But it was the book that had really made the vows and there was no point in talking to a book.

Eventually, you give up waiting for your husband to turn up. The wedding vows and the promises and pictures of a life together in the book seem just empty façades. That is when you stop making excuses for the lack of a husband at social event just explaining the relationship ‘did not work out’ and that your husband had ‘left’. And you go back to life as a single person again.

This is the situation too much of the Christian church lives in today. They have been told they have a personal relationship with Jesus and that He has saved them, lives inside of them, and will one day be their spiritual husband, but they have also been told that He does not speak or appear or visit people today, now, in any way, because we have the Bible. Through the Bible alone we are supposed to have a personal relationship with Jesus and God. Yet that very same book is full of the personal encounters, visions, conversations, and even arguments that other people have had with God. And thought the book itself never claims it, we are indoctrinated with the belief that all those things are past and we will not personally experience God or Jesus till we are dead. Instead our relationship is to consist of reading the book and following it’s ‘rules for life’.

Personal relationship is replaced with dead religion. Living in the Presence and Power of Jesus resurrection is replaced with simply doing what looks like good works. No wonder so many Christians are exhausted and feel powerless to change the world! Trying to do God’s work for Him but without Him is exhausting and ultimately impossible. The Christianity too many people have been taught is simply a watered down version of the Jewish Law with Jesus taking the place of the sacrificial system. It downgrades Jesus sacrifice to simply a whitewash of our sins for now and a ticket to heaven when we die. AND THAT IS THE MOST APPALLING LIE!

“Eternal life means to know and experience you as the only true God, and to know and experience Jesus Christ, as the Son whom you have sent.

I am not asking that you remove them from the world, but I ask that you guard their hearts from evil, For they no longer belong to this world any more than I do.

You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me. “Father, I ask that you allow everyone that you have given to me to be with me where I am! Then they will see my full glory— the very splendour you have placed upon me because you have loved me even before the beginning of time.

I have revealed to them who you are and I will continue to make you even more real to them, so that they may experience the same endless love that you have for me, for your love will now live in them, even as I live in them!””

John 17:3, 15-16, 23-24, 26 TPT

That is an abbreviation of Jesus’ prayer as he gathered with His disciples just before He was crucified. It is that eternal life NOW that the Amazing Exchange web site was created to help you enjoy. Doing life in unity with the Trinity, living in and experiencing the glory of Jesus, is the foundation of the eternal life Jesus is offering us NOW. Who would not want that?

To Be Jesus

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

From Your very conception
You were filled with God’s Spirit
Born into perfection
Gods image incarnation
The heavenly host rejoicing
At Your humble birthing
Shepherds and Wise men
Giving You their worship

As a child growing
In wisdom and revelation
Understanding Scripture better
Than Your teachers comprehending
Your favour with God
Giving You favour with others
And a clear path of destiny
To save many sinners

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

You were obedient God
Even in baptism
Though You did not need the cleansing
For You were without sin
You fasted in the desert
Living only from God’s word
Resisting Satan‘s temptations
And remaining true to God

You turned water into wine
With a single command
Many chose to follow You
Leaving jobs, home and land
Hearing in You voice
God‘s authority at hand
Your love and forgiveness
More than some could understand

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

The power of Your words
Moved people’s hearts, minds and spirits
As You taught about God’s kingdom
Which they could inherit
You taught and lived
God‘s forgiveness for sin
And outraged the self-righteous
By hated sinners forgiving

You healed all the sick
Who came to You for healing
And cast out demons
From those bound in torment
You fed thousands of people
From one boys lunch
And stilled a violent storm
To Your disciples awe

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

When others tried to kill You
But it was not Your time
You walked right through the crowd
Unhurt and unharmed
When a fig tree in a field
Fail to provide You with food
One word from You
And the fig tree withered

You shared Your power and authority
With all Your disciples
Sent them out to be witnesses
To Your Kingdom principles
They too healed the sick
Releasing tormented from demons
And came back rejoicing
In living in Your kingdom‘s freedoms

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

When You could’ve reached for earthly power
You chose to ride a donkey
Through the worship of many
To a painful destiny
You accepted injustice
As authorities felt threatened
You were rejection by the crowd
Who put their trust in Cesar

You walked the lonely road
To Your own crucifixion
Because Your power to love
Defies all description
The nails and suffocation
The weight of all our sin
Our rejection by God
You took it all in

What was it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

All of sinful mankind
Died with You that day
Though many do not know it
So still live in it’s sway
Buried with You in death
Sinful man stayed in the grave
Your new life we were all given
As You rose from the grave

Your resurrection life
Eternal power and glory
Took You to heaven’s throne
Where You rule with God Almighty
This is the life You share with us
Though we could never earn it
Co-heirs and One with You
Now and for eternity

What is it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form?

Now through Your Presence
And Your indwelling Holy Spirit
You make us Your temple
As all heaven we inherit
You share all that You are
And all that You have
With us as Your siblings
And Your eternal bride

Now all that You can be or do
Is possible for us in You
Acts of power and authority
Service that sets others free
Loving enemy and friend
Forgiving all, again and again
Wisdom receiving from You daily
Knowing the Trinity intimately

That is what it like
To be You Jesus
To be the Son of God
Born in human form.

Powerful Words

“By the time Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were dazed and overwhelmed by his teaching, because his words carried such great authority, quite unlike their religious scholars.” Matthew 7:28-29 TPT

Imagine that you
Were the preacher that day
On a hillside near home
Or some other high place
And people had gathered
To hear what you say
And your words left the crowd
Overwhelmed and dazed

Imagine that you
Were the preacher that day
On a hillside near home
Or a stadiums stage
And people had gathered
To hear what you say
And the authority of your words
Overwhelmed and dazed

But I am not Jesus
You would probably say
I don’t have the wisdom
Or the authority of His kingdom
But Jesus and God
Gave all that to you
The day you became Christ’s
And He came to live in you

For within you dwells
Through Christ and His Spirit
All the wisdom of God
All His Kingdom’s inheritance
Your words are His words
His knowledge You’ve received
You simply need to live in
This changed reality

Like a very foreign land
Jesus kingdom is different
His way of thinking
Can seem like great weakness
The servant of all
This King shares all His Kingdom
With all who would seek
Daily to be with Him

So to know what you have
As Christ dwells within you
To see things His way
To live in His kingdom
We need each day
To spend time just with Him
Hear His voice, get His vision
For this world’s healing

When we know who we are
Through Jesus eyes
The Beloved of God
Jesus’ Holy Bride
And see how He has healed us
From brokenness and sin
We can joyfully embrace
His fullness within

When we hear His words
Of loving correction
Which open our hearts
To His faultless direction
When we experience the power
Of His Words to restore us
To change our point of view
We can share that with others

When we feel the joy
God has in our presence
By His right hand
With Jesus seated
Our hearts and minds
Are changed in His Presence
His thoughts become ours
Through His indwelling essence

When we live daily
In Jesus Kingdom’s reality
It restores our thinking
Heals all our damages
Fill our hearts and minds
With God’s peace, joy and love
Forgiveness becomes natural
And His wisdom becomes ours

Then the words that we speak
Are changed forever
For encouragement and love
Become our new meter
Our words and actions
Are filled with God’s power
Bringing glory to God
Every day, every hour

So there lives within us
One who could preach
On a hillside near home
Or some other high place
Where people had gathered
To hear what you say
And your words can leave the crowd
Overwhelmed and dazed

For in the words
That we say every day
Whether out and about
Or at work, home or play
Jesus’ authority resides
To overwhelm and daze
With God’s love and wisdom
His kindness and grace

So don’t imagine
You cannot speak
Powerful words
Like Jesus did
For the fullness of Christ
Lives daily in you
Dwelling daily in His Presence
Is all you need do

Healing Actions

“Suddenly, a leper walked up to Jesus and threw himself down before him in worship and said, “Lord, you have the power to heal me . . . if you really want to.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the leper and said, “Of course I want to heal you—be healed!” And instantly, all signs of leprosy disappeared!” Matthew 8:2-3 TPT

What made this leper believe
On the road that day
That Jesus could heal him
If it was His heart’s way?
Was it the power of His words
As He preached on the hill
Or were Jesus healing stories
Already circulating?

The leper does not explain
How he came to believe
That Jesus could heal him
Of this slowly fatal disease
But believe it he did
For in his actions it showed
In coming to ask Jesus
He’d publicly broken the law

Lepers you see
Were meant to isolate
From all healthy people
Live outside the town gate
If they needed to come
Where healthy people were
They had to call out their illness
So all could move away

Yet this leper came right up
To Jesus that day
Believing Jesus’ power
Could keep illness at bay
But he was not sure
If Jesus cared for him
For the presence of leprosy
Was thought a sign of sin

But then in His actions
Jesus showed His love
That comes to forgive all
And of illness cleanse us
For He reached out and touched
This man who was leprous
Making him whole
With loving assurance

The power of Jesus
To overcome illness
To forgive all sin
And bring us wholeness
Was clearly displayed
On the road that day
In response to this man’s
Action of faith

Can you imagine
Having confidence and power
To touch one contagious
To bring healing and wholeness
To bring the light to people
In their darkest hour
To live Jesus hope and love
And overcoming power?

But I am not Jesus
I could hear you say
I don’t have His power
His authoritative ways
I am not sure
If it is His will
To heal us all
To heal through me

Take courage then
From this leper’s story
For though he doubted His acceptance
Yet he sought Jesus’ healing
“Of course!” Jesus said
“I want to heal you”
For love is Jesus’ nature
Through and through

So when we really know
Jesus living within us
Let His love fill our hearts
For those around us
The power to forgive
And heal comes too
In the Presence of Jesus
Living in me and you

We don’t need to judge
Who’s worthy of healing
Or who needs to be
Punished for their sin
Jesus paid for it all
Through His death and resurrection
With Him living in us
His Holy Spirit’s direction

We can, like Jesus
Touch the unclean
Bringing healing and wholeness
To those in need
Not because we ourselves
Are strong and mighty
But because Jesus lives in us
Now and for eternity

It is tough to live Jesus
Here on this earth
To face illness ad prejudice
With His love and words
It takes courage to touch
The unclean and outcast
But in the power of His love
We can healing impart

To live each day
Aware of Jesus in us
Full of His loving grace
Is the challenge before us
To view through His eyes
To know His Presence touch
So we can heal others
As we live His grace

Trusting In God

“That’s what the Scripture means when it says: “I have made you the father of many nations.” He [Abraham] is our example and father, for in God’s presence he believed that God can raise the dead and call into being things that don’t even exist yet.” Romans 4:17 TPT

Abraham left his home
To follow God’s calling
Left friends and family
To trust in God’s promises
Though he was childless
For very many years

He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

God had promised Abraham
He would father many nations
Though for many many years
His wife remained barren
But when Abraham was 100
His first heir and son was born

He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

When Isaac Abraham’s son
His one and only heir
Was still a young man
The pride and joy of his father
God asked Abraham
To sacrifice his son

But He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

Abraham knew by then
God could be trusted
To call into being
That which eyes had not seen
And raise from the dead
Those untimely in the grave

So he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

In Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice
His beloved, only son
We see a picture of the terrible price
God would pay one day for us
Abraham’s faith God would provide
The lamb in Jesus would be realised

Because he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

With all that he was and had
Even his one precious son
Abraham trusted in God
To be faithful to His word
To be kind and forgiving
Loving and providing

Because he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

Now through Jesus sacrifice
We have God’s Presence in us
For God was faithful to His Word
From death to life, raising us
Re-creating us as He promised
One with Him we are united

As we trust in God
Our faith is rewarded
In God’s Presence in us
Our faith is grounded

Justice and Mercy

“Jesus’ God-given destiny was to be the sacrifice to take away sins, and now he is our mercy seat because of his death on the cross. We come to him for mercy, for God has made a provision for us to be forgiven by faith in the sacred blood of Jesus. This is the perfect demonstration of God’s justice, because until now, he had been so patient—holding back his justice out of his tolerance for us. So he covered over the sins of those who lived prior to Jesus’ sacrifice. And when the season of tolerance came to an end, there was only one possible way for God to give away his righteousness and still be true to both his justice and his mercy—to offer up his own Son. So now, because we stand on the faithfulness of Jesus, God declares us righteous in his eyes!” Romans 3:25-26 TPT

Before this earth was made
God new we would reject Him
Knew we would go our own way
End up in bondage to sin
So He planned our salvation
Gave His Son our destiny
To die for our sin
And set us all free

All of God’s judgement
For all of our sin
Was taken by Jesus
Into death with Him
Now that He has risen
To God’s right hand
We can rest in His mercy
Cleansed and forgiven through His blood

God’s perfect justice
Can be seen in Jesus’ actions
Paying the price for our sin
For every infraction
No further penance or price
Needs to be paid
For in Jesus our perfect lamb
All sinful man went to the grave

God’s love and mercy
Can be seen in Jesus risen
To God’s right hand
In the throne room of heaven
Where He grants us the mercy
To sit with Him
As sons of God eternal
Fully righteous in Him

In the faithfulness of Jesus
We can take our stand
On Him we can depend
To release in us His kingdom
For as He is God’s Beloved
Holy, pure and righteous
So He gifts all that to us
As One with Him He makes us
