Light Guides

“Pour into me the brightness of your daybreak! Pour into me your rays of revelation-truth! Let them comfort and gently lead me onto the shining path, showing the way into your burning presence, into your many sanctuaries of holiness.” (Psalm 43:3 TPT)

“For God, who said, “Let brilliant light shine out of darkness,” is the one who has cascaded his light into us—the brilliant dawning light of the glorious knowledge of God as we gaze into the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6 TPT)

Light Governs

“God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:17-18 NLT)

Just as God lights and rules this universe and keeps His light pure, so His lights, the sun, moon and stars light and govern day and night for us, separating night from day. And something which so clearly reflects the nature of God must be good.

As long as I [Jesus] am with you my life is the light that pierces the world’s darkness.” (John 9:5 TPT)

Light Separated from Darkness

Then God separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:4b NLT

Lord, even in the light we see every day, that part of Your Glory we live in, You wanted purity so Your light would not be diminished or contaminated by darkness.

“God is pure light. You will never find even a trace of darkness in him.” (1 John 1:5b TPT)

“O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness.” (2 Samuel 22:29 NLT)

And when Your light entered this world in person, in Jesus, we saw that “this

Living Expression is the Light that bursts through gloom — the Light that darkness could not diminish!” (John 1:5 TPT)

Light is Good

fullsizeoutput_a0

And God saw that the light was good.” Genesis 1:4a NLT

When Moses said to God, “show me your glory.” God replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you.” (Exod. 33:18-19)

So goodness is the core nature and the glory of God. God himself is the source and definition of all goodness in this world.

So when God saw the light was good he saw His own glory in it; God’s glory, God’s goodness in this created world.

Let there be light

When God began creation of this world it was formless, dark and empty. Though His Spirit hovered above it yet His Personal Presence was not in it. We know this because

“God is pure light. You will never find even a trace of darkness in him.” (1 John 1:5b TPT)

But God did not want to stand aloof from His creation. He wanted to be part of it. He wanted to enjoy it, make it good like Him for “His life is light for all humanity.” (John 1:4b TPT). So He spoke His own Presence into His creation, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

That means every experience I have of light is an experience of the life giving Presence of God.
