“Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”” (Genesis 3:9 NLT)
““So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.” (Acts of the Apostles 2:36-38, 41 NLT)
Lord Your call pierces my heart like no other voice
You call to me
And my heart cries out, “Here I am!”
I turn towards Your voice
Seeking Your face
From the cross You say
“Forgive her Father for she/he knows not what she/he has done.”
And I am cleansed
Released from my sin
From the closed grave You cry out
“Die with Me, let Me kill your sinful man.”
And I am freed from death
To be born again
From Your Word You cry out (Ezk. 36:26)
“Let me give You a new heart, full of my love
Let Me take Your stony heart
Into My grave.”
From Your Word You cry out
“Let me give You a New Spirt,
Joined to My Spirit,
So You can live again.”
From the empty tomb’s garden You call out
“Live with Me, take My resurrection life!”
And I am resurrected
Into Your New Holy Life
Make a list of all the times you have heard the Lord call to you, describing how you experienced that call:
For example, when He called you to salvation and baptism
Or when He called you to be part of a ministry
Or when He called you to go and help someone
Or when He called you to rejoice and praise
Or when He called your attention to Scripture verses, songs, poems, or art.
Or when He called your attention to something beautiful.
Note what He calls you to today.
Give Him thanks for all the ways He calls to you.
Listen, be attentive for the Lord’s call, record what He says without questioning it or judging it until after you have it all down. If it is more kind, more loving, more creative, more helpful, more encouraging, more insightful, and more forgiving than anything you would say to yourself you can be sure it is the Lord.
As I awake, I incline my ear to You
I want to hear Your call Lord
I love to hear Your voice
“Good Morning, Lord” I say
He says……
As I prepare for my day I take time with You
I want to hear Your call Lord
I love to hear Your voice
What have You to say this day?
As I take a tea or lunch break during the day I stop to listen
I want to hear Your call Lord
I love to hear Your voice
What do I need to see, what do I need to know?
As I take my evening meal, I pause to hear You too
I want to hear Your call Lord
I love to hear Your voice
How was Your day Lord?
As I lay my head to rest, I pause to hear You speak
I want to hear Your call Lord
I love to hear Your voice
“Goodnight, Lord,” I say
He says …
