They heard the Lord’s Presence

“When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden.” (Genesis‬ ‭3:8‬a NLT‬‬)

Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! When the people of the city heard the roaring sound, crowds came running to where it was coming from, stunned over what was happening, because each one could hear the disciples speaking in his or her own language. Bewildered, they said to one another, “Aren’t these all Galileans? Yet we hear them speaking of God’s mighty wonders in our own dialects!” They all stood there, dumbfounded and astonished, saying to one another, “What is this phenomenon?” (Acts 2:2,6-7,11-12 TPT)

Adam and Eve heard Your footsteps Lord and knew it was You. Was it the sound of Your footsteps that they recognised because they knew You that well, or was it simply that You sought them out every evening at about this time so they knew it must be You?

It’s a beautiful thing to know Lord, that at the end of each day You seek us out for fellowship with us. Like a friend or lover or family member You come to be with us and say, “How was your day?” Not because You do not know, but because You want to be with us in the re-experience of it. You want to enjoy our joys with us, laugh our laughs with us, celebrate our successes with us, live our loves with us, enjoy our creations with us, cry our tears with us, bind and heal our illnesses and wounds, mourn our losses with us, heal our heartbreaks, wash away our sins for us, renew our thoughts and beliefs for us, and hold us in Your Loving Embrace until we know we are truly loved for eternity.

Papa God, as this day draws to a close I listen for the sound of Your footsteps and welcome Your Presence here with me. (Respond to His Presence; welcome Him, adore Him). Let me tell You about my day Lord…….(tell Him). Tell me how You see my day Lord..….(journal what you hear without questioning it or judging it until it is finished. Simply trust God wants to speak to you).

Footsteps by Amanda Wilson

As the daylight fades Lord

I incline me ear to hear the footsteps of Your approach

The powerful footsteps of my Creator

The sure footsteps of my Saviour

The enthusiastic footsteps of my Lover

For Your promises declare You will always be there:

“Never forget I Am with you every day.” (Matt. 28:20 tPt)

The glory of the sunset sings Your Praises

And I am awed in the Presence of the Master Artist

The evening breeze embraces and caresses me

Whispering Your love for me

As the sun fades and the moon and stars appear

The light of Your Glory remains

Pouring Your Goodness, Your Love on me

I hear Your footsteps

Welcome Your Presence

Papa God, my true Dad

Lord Jesus, my Lover, my brother

Holy Spirit, my Empowerer

We are One in Your Love

Made complete in You

And Your footsteps are now mine too.

As you walk about in your day, listen to the sound of Your footsteps because they are also Jesus’ footsteps and God’s footsteps because of the perfect unity you have with them (John 17:23) And as you hear them welcome the Presence of God in you, rejoice in the Presence of God in you.

When you hear the footsteps of someone you know is a child of God welcome the Presence of God in them as their footsteps are His footsteps.

With St. Patric I declare:

Christ be with me (I hear Your footsteps )

Christ within me (Your footsteps are mine)

Christ behind me (Your footsteps come behind me)

Christ before me (Your footsteps guide my way)

Christ beside me (I footsteps match mine)

“Later that Sunday, two of Jesus’ disciples were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus, a journey of about seventeen miles. They were in the midst of a discussion about all the events of the last few days when Jesus walked up and accompanied them in their journey. Then he [Jesus] carefully unveiled to them the revelation of himself throughout the Scripture. He started from the beginning and explained the writings of Moses and all the prophets, showing how they wrote of him and revealed the truth about himself.” (Luke 24:13-14,27 tPt)

Lord open my ears to the footsteps of Your Presence that brings me revelation.

As I go about my day, I choose to listen for the sound of Your feet walking with mine and the words of understanding and revelation that You have for all my questions about Scripture and all my circumstances. Reveal the truth about You that I need to hear today Lord.
