Matthew 9:7 meditation

“Immediately the man sprang to his feet and left for home.” Matthew 9:7 TPT

As the power of Jesus words
Of forgiveness and healing
Fell on the lame man
He sprang to his feet, standing
He then left for home, walking
No doubt to share the good news
That Jesus had healed him
And all was forgiven

Surely there would have been
Much joy that day
As his family saw him walk
Saw that Jesus had healed him
And I wonder if his neighbours
Joined in the celebration
For surely his faithful friends
Deserved a great thanking

The religious scholars
Who thought they knew God better
Had their judgment of Jesus
Brought into serious question
How could a man lame
Clearly bound in sin and shame
Be suddenly walking
Unless truly forgiven?

This is the power of the words
That Jesus speaks
They show his authority
Over sin and all creation
They demonstrate the power
That brought this world into being
That created life for us
Created human beings

Though Jesus had left Heaven
To be born as one of us
Yet he was born of God’s Spirit
As God’s true Son
His identity confirmed
By God voice at his baptism
He’s authority and power
Confirmed in the Holy Spirit‘s Presence

It was daily acts of power
Forgiveness, healing and deliverance
That demonstrated God’s kingdom
Was here in Jesus’ Presence
He demonstrated that God’s Spirit
Could give birth to a human
With God‘s authority and power
This world to redeem

Now we are God’s Sons
Born of flesh and Spirit
When we take Jesus as our Lord
And His eternal life inherit
Our words are His words
And we give witness to His glory
When we forgive, heal and deliver
In His authority

Matthew 9:6 meditation

“But now, to convince you that the Son of Man has been given authority to forgive sins, I say to this man, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk home.’ ”” Matthew 9:6 TPT

There are many that challenge
Whether Jesus was God
And it was just the same
When Jesus was alive
The religious scholars present
Resented Jesus power
And questioned his authority
To forgive on God’s behalf

But Jesus had a demonstration
Right there in front of them
A man so bound in sin and guilt
It had made him lame
If Jesus’ words of forgiveness
Really had God‘s power
Then that man would now be free to walk
Released and empowered

So these intellectuals
Could see they had been blind
Jesus told the man to walk
A simple command
But it would not have worked
If the man was unforgiven
Because they knew the laws of God
Could not be broken

Jesus wanted all to see
That they could come to Him
To be forgiven
Released from all their sin
The burden that God‘s law
Had placed on them
He could release them from
Into God‘s kingdom

The result of that freedom
Is not simply forgiveness
But health and life and wholeness
That only God can give us
For Jesus death did not pay
To simply wipe our record clean
But to give us his eternal life
All parts of us healing

Matthew 9:2 meditation

“Just then some people brought a paraplegic man to him, lying on a sleeping mat. When Jesus perceived the strong faith within their hearts, he said to the paralyzed man, “My son, be encouraged, for your sins have been forgiven.”” Matthew 9:2 TPT

It is a great thing
To have faithful friends
A believing community
That stands with you in your need
To help you find solutions
Rather than condemn
Just as this man’s friends
Brought him in faith to Jesus

Jesus saw their hearts
And he was moved by their love
Their concern for their brother
Their faith in Jesus so strong
They knew he was the solution
To what beset their friend
So they carried their brother
To Jesus side

Sometimes it is our sin
That leaves us paralyzed
Depressed and hopeless
Sickness takes hold
And Jesus could see
What bound this man to his bed
And he knew that forgiveness
Was the crucial thing he needed

So Jesus spoke the words
Of great encouragement
Told the man he was forgiven
Of all the sins he done
For Jesus knew that guilt
Was a powerful bondage
That could keep this man from walking
From receiving his healing

To hear Jesus voice
Assuring us we are forgiven
Said with the authority
That God‘s son was given
There is nothing more powerful
Nothing more freeing
Then to be released
From the burden of our sin

That very same Jesus
Says to you and I today
All is forgiven
On the cross taken away
I paid all the cost
On that fateful day
So you could be freed
From sin and guilt’s sway

As I go about my day
When I come across
Someone bound by sin and guilt
For which You, Jesus, paid the cost
You empower me to say
As a son of God
Be encouraged you’re forgiven
Jesus has paid the cost

To be freed from guilt and sin
Is the core that needs healing
In every person’s life
In every human being
Without it we are bound
And certainly dying
Only Jesus forgiveness
Can give us life everlasting

From everything we’ve done Jesus
You cleanse and make us whole
For You know there is no separation
Of body, mind and soul
For we were made as one unit
To show Your glory in to world
A true reflection of You
A Kingdom of God child

Matthew 8:32 Meditation

“Jesus commanded, “Then go!” And at once the demons came out of the men and went into the pigs. Then the entire herd of crazed pigs stampeded down the steep slope and fell into the water and drowned.” Matthew 8:32 TPT

Just one simple command
And ALL the demons moved on
They left the men completely
And to the pigs latched on
They could not disobey You Jesus
Could not stand in Your way
Against Your power and authority
They had no say

You chose that time and place
To demonstrate Your kingdom’s power
Show that evil must submit
To You word’s authority
There were no crowds to see it
Just Your disciples standing by
Though the whole village was impacted
When the pigs went mad and died.

You could have used Your power
To confront kings and rulers
To take on the Roman army
Free Israel from occupation
But instead You chose
To aid two powerless men
To bring freedom to two nobodies
That lived in a graveyard

It is the hallmark of Your Kingdom
That Your power was for all
To free us all from sin’s oppression
No matter where we’re from
With Your love and power
You served the homeless and oppressed
The blind and disabled
The abandoned and rejected

When I am confronted
By fear and the demonic
Attempting to take over
To take control of me
I will rest in Your Presence Lord
Rest in the power
Of Your Kingdom in me
For You are my strong tower

When I am confronted
By the works of the enemy
See people bound in evil
Living lives of torment
Empower me to love them
Like You loved these two men
And use Your Kingdom power
To bring them release and peace

Matthew 8:26 Meditation

“But Jesus reprimanded them. “Why are you gripped with fear? Where is your faith?” Then he stood up and rebuked the storm and said, “Be still!” And instantly it became perfectly calm.” Matthew 8:26 TPT

The storm seemed to be threatening
The very life of the disciples
No doubt they knew of storm histories
That ended in people drowning
And while Jesus slept peacefully
They began fear entertaining

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Though they had seen many miracles
Seen Your authority in action
In fear the disciples cried out to You
To wake up and save them
Fear had gripped their hearts and minds
Though perfect peace was right beside them

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Jesus challenged His disciples
To remember what they’d seen
Many miracles and healings
That happened at his command
How then this lack of faith
When their well-being is challenged?

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Despite their lack of faith
Though they’d responded in fear
Jesus chose to calm the storm
With one command to the air
Demonstrating His authority
Was all they needed there

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Even though their faith failed them
Yet Jesus was still loving
He still cared for their well-being
And wanted them to know Him
So he pointed out their problem
And gave them the solution

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them
We see Your kindness Lord
When we are in trouble
When our fears overcome us
And faith in you is a struggle
For you are always beside us
And your words are powerful

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Matthew 8:17 Meditation

“In doing this, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: He put upon himself our weaknesses, and he carried away our diseases and made us well.” Matthew 8:17 TPT

Isaiah spoke about You Lord
Spoke about Your coming
Described Your crucifixion
And the reason for it happening
Sin had gripped our hearts
Taken us astray
Made us weak and ill
Open to daemonic pray

But You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

Isaiah called You servant
One who came to save the lost
And the price for sin and sickness
You would pay for on the cross
You came to restore
God’s image in us
To give us His perfection
Through Your resurrection

So You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

You could not take just our sin
And simply leave us broken
With hearts and minds and bodies
Damaged by sins burden
For that would not be loving
Would not justify Your suffering
Your love would seek to make us whole
To complete our healing

So You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

Your power to achieve this
Our salvation from all sin
And our complete healing
Making us whole again
You displayed daily
Wherever You went
To demonstrate Your kingdom
Was heaven sent

So You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

I come to You daily Lord
To experience Your salvation
To know the freedom from sin
You so dearly paid for
And to be healed, made whole
By the stripes that You bore
To live as God‘s kingdom child
And give You all the glory

For You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

I seek to live You Lord
So others experience Your salvation
Know the freedom from sin
You so dearly paid for
So they can be healed, made whole
By the stripes that You bore
And live as God‘s children
To bring You all the glory

For You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

Matthew 8:16 Meditation

“That evening the people brought to him many who were demonized. And by Jesus only speaking a word of healing over them, they were totally set free from their torment, and everyone who was sick received their healing!” Matthew 8:16 TPT

That very evening
Peter‘s mother-in-law‘s house
Became a place of healing
Not just for her but for others
No doubt her neighbors had heard
How she was quickly healed
And that Jesus was present
For the evening meal

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

So into her house
Came the demonized and ill
Seeking Jesus for healing
For they wanted to be well
No one was turned away
Or left outside
Jesus healed them all
With just a single word

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

No doubt in the crowd that night
Sinners were healed too
Released from their torment
By a single word
Evidence in action
Of God’s forgiving, loving heart
And His desire that they know Jesus
As their saving Lord

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

Lord I come to you today
Through faith in this testimony
Seeking your healing
For I want to be made well
You will not turn me away
Or judge me for my sin
But reach out to love me
With a healing word

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

Lord I come to you today
Through faith in this testimony
Seeking your healing
For others to be healed through me
You do not turn them away
Or judge them for their sin
But reach out through me to love me
With a healing word

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

Every day and evening
Let my house be
A place to come for healing
No matter who it is in need
May my neighbors hear
How You quickly heal
And that You Jesus are present
Your salvation to reveal

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

Matthew 8:14-15 Meditation

“Then Jesus went into Peter’s home and found Peter’s mother-in-law bedridden, severely ill with a fever. The moment Jesus touched her hand she was healed! Immediately she got up and began to make dinner for them.” Matthew 8:14-15 TPT

Peter’s Mother-in-law:
I was lying in bed
Fever had taken me down
I could not lift my head
I was so ill that day
Though I knew Peter was coming
Bringing Jesus our way
I could not get up
Could not prepare for their stay

But then Jesus came and touched me
Put his hand on mine
All sickness left immediately
And I got up to make dinner

There was no fuss and bother
No shouting or commands
Not a single word was uttered
Jesus simply touched me with His hand
I felt the power of His healing
As health to me returned
It was all done in a moment
And I was well again

For Jesus came and touched me
Put his hand on mine
All sickness left immediately
And I got up to make dinner

I had seen some miracles
That Jesus had done
Heard the many healing stories
That the crowds spoke of
But until that day
It all seemed kind of distant
Until I was so sick
And Jesus cured me in an instant

For Jesus came and touched me
Put his hand on mine
All sickness left immediately
And I got up to make dinner
There was love in that touch
That seared through my very soul
Gave me healing and life
Made me whole
Then I knew Jesus loved me
Knew he was the Son of God
It was a life-changing moment
To have that touch from God

For Jesus came and touched me
Put his hand on mine
All sickness left immediately
And I got up to make dinner

When Jesus died on the cross
I could not understand
How God’s love could die
At our hand
But his resurrection showed
The power I’d experienced
The power to give life
And health and wholeness

Then Jesus came and touched me
Gave me his salvation
Made me a child of God
Through the power of his kingdom

Now I live in the power
Of Jesus life in me
His indwelling Spirit
My seal and guarantee
I can daily know His touch
Bringing wholeness to me
Healing and restoring
Filling me with His glory

For Jesus came and touched me
Gave me his salvation
Made me a child of God
Through the power of his kingdom

Now I seek to touch others
With Jesus hand in mine
His indwelling Spirit
My guidance and power
So all can know His touch
Bringing wholeness and healing
Salvation and His kingdom
Filling earth with His glory

For Jesus came and touched me
Gave me his salvation
Made me a child of God
Through the power of his kingdom

Matthew 8:13 Meditation

“Then Jesus turned to the Roman officer and said, “Go home. All that you have believed for will be done for you!” And his son was healed at that very moment.”

Matthew 8:13 TPT

This faithful Roman officer

With a sick and dying son

Had to sought out Jesus presence

Sought out Jesus voice

To ask for His command

That would bring healing to his son

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

Jesus sent the officer home

To see his faith’s reward

To see his son was healed

At the moment Jesus spoke

And all the soldier had to do

Was take Jesus at his word

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

In that time and place

No person could have known

If the Roman soldiers son

Was well or still dying

But Jesus knew

For with God He was One

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

Perhaps later Matthew

The author of this book

Saw the Roman soldier

Saw his son was cured

But it is also just as likely

That he took Jesus at his word

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

Lord I come to you today

Because illness troubles me

And I seek your face

And your command of healing

Let your faith spring up in me

So I can be obedient

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

Lord I come to you today

With my friend who is ill

Trusting Your Presence in me

Will empower my words

As I command healing

Just as you would do

.

Faith requires hearing

Hearing Jesus voice

And obeying Jesus words

Though there may be no evidence

.

Lord I want to be a witness

To your healing power

To show your salvation

So needed in this hour

And to spread your love and mercy

To bring your kingdom here now

Matthew 8:10 Meditation

“Jesus was astonished when he heard this and said to those who were following him, “He has greater faith than anyone I’ve encountered in Israel!”

Matthew 8:10 TPT

.

Lord you were astonished

At this Roman soldiers faith

Not even one of God’s people

Had trusted You that way

He was the first to grasp

Your true authority in faith

.

Our faith has the capacity

To reveal who You are

The Lord of all creation

The Son of God and Savior

.

Many had seen you heal

And heard the words You did say

Saw the power in your touch

Saw the demons flee away

But couldn’t imagine You were God

The author of creation

.

Our faith has the capacity

To reveal who You are

The Lord of all creation

The Son of God and Savior

.

Because of this man’s faith

You could show Your true power

Show Your love and full authority

At that time and hour

Because what the man was asking for

Only God could do

.

Our faith has the capacity

To reveal who You are

The Lord of all creation

The Son of God and Savior

.

It was not just desperation

That brought this father to your side

But his faith in your authority

And his trust in your love

And he became a witness

That you are the son of God

.

Our faith has the capacity

To reveal who You are

The Lord of all creation

The Son of God and Savior
