“But Jesus reprimanded them. “Why are you gripped with fear? Where is your faith?” Then he stood up and rebuked the storm and said, “Be still!” And instantly it became perfectly calm.” Matthew 8:26 TPT

The storm seemed to be threatening
The very life of the disciples
No doubt they knew of storm histories
That ended in people drowning
And while Jesus slept peacefully
They began fear entertaining

All our storms and troubles
Are silenced, Jesus, in your Presence
For Your authority and power
Is all we need to overcome them

Though they had seen many miracles
Seen Your authority in action
In fear the disciples cried out to You
To wake up and save them
Fear had gripped their hearts and minds
Though perfect peace was right beside them

To remember what they’d seen
Many miracles and healings

How then this lack of faith

Matthew 8:17 Meditation

“In doing this, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: He put upon himself our weaknesses, and he carried away our diseases and made us well.” Matthew 8:17 TPT

Isaiah spoke about You Lord
Spoke about Your coming
Described Your crucifixion
And the reason for it happening
Sin had gripped our hearts
Taken us astray
Made us weak and ill
Open to daemonic pray

But You took our sin, our weaknesses
Into Your death on the cross
Carried away our illnesses
And by Your stripes we are healed

Isaiah called You servant
One who came to save the lost
And the price for sin and sickness
You would pay for on the cross
You came to restore
God’s image in us
To give us His perfection
Through Your resurrection

So You took our sin, our weaknesses

You could not take just our sin
And simply leave us broken
With hearts and minds and bodies
Damaged by sins burden
For that would not be loving
Would not justify Your suffering
Your love would seek to make us whole
To complete our healing

And by Your stripes we are healed

Your power to achieve this
Our salvation from all sin
And our complete healing
Making us whole again
You displayed daily
Wherever You went
To demonstrate Your kingdom
Was heaven sent

I come to You daily Lord
To experience Your salvation

Jesus is my scapegoat

“That evening the people brought to him many who were demonized. And by Jesus only speaking a word of healing over them, they were totally set free from their torment, and everyone who was sick received their healing!” Matthew 8:16 TPT

That very evening
Peter‘s mother-in-law‘s house
Became a place of healing
Not just for her but for others
No doubt her neighbors had heard
How she was quickly healed
And that Jesus was present
For the evening meal

Jesus the testimony of your works
Inspires faith and hope in us
Encourages us to seek your Presence
To hear Your healing word

So into her house
Came the demonized and ill
Seeking Jesus for healing
For they wanted to be well
No one was turned away
Or left outside
Jesus healed them all
With just a single word

Matthew 8:14-15 Meditation

“Then Jesus went into Peter’s home and found Peter’s mother-in-law bedridden, severely ill with a fever. The moment Jesus touched her hand she was healed! Immediately she got up and began to make dinner for them.” Matthew 8:14-15 TPT

Peter’s Mother-in-law:
I was lying in bed
Fever had taken me down
I could not lift my head
I was so ill that day
Though I knew Peter was coming
Bringing Jesus our way
I could not get up
Could not prepare for their stay

But then Jesus came and touched me
Put his hand on mine
All sickness left immediately
And I got up to make dinner

There was no fuss and bother
No shouting or commands
Not a single word was uttered
Jesus simply touched me with His hand
I felt the power of His healing
As health to me returned
It was all done in a moment
And I was well again
