“Suddenly, a leper walked up to Jesus and threw himself down before him in worship and said, “Lord, you have the power to heal me . . . if you really want to.””
Matthew 8:2 TPT
.
The leper had seen
Or the leper had heard
You had the power to heal
And in that he believed
But the doubt that remained
In his heart and mind
Was would you heal him
Would you want to make him whole?
.
Jesus, Jesus
You healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
Leprosy was a disease
That took him from friends and family
To live outside the town
In decay and poverty
In that time and culture
It labelled him as a bad sinner
One rejected by God
Outside God’s favour
.
Jesus, Jesus
Your healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
But maybe he’d also heard
How You were forgiving
Loving even those
Who sinned for a living
He must have had some hope
That you might choose to heal Him
Or maybe so much desperation
That he’d try any solution
.
Jesus, Jesus
Your healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
Though he had doubts
That You would want to heal him
Perhaps because
He was aware of his sin
He broke the law to approach You
To ask for Your healing
Risking a public condemnation
If you rejected him
.
Jesus, Jesus
Your healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
He came to plead with You
Fell at Your feet in worship
All pride gone
For it no longer mattered
His words declared
In Your power he believed
But the question on his lips was
‘Do You care for me?’
.
Jesus, Jesus
Your healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
Your answer was yes
And it was backed up by action
As you healed the leper
Released him from all condemnation
Your love for him
Was for You never in question
For love is who You are
And That is seen in all Your actions
.
Jesus, Jesus
Your healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
So when I doubt
That You would heal me or others
The testimony of this leper
Tells me I need not wonder
It is Your desire to heal
All those that seek You out
Not because we are good
But out of Your loving heart
.
Jesus, Jesus
You healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
So give me the courage Lord
To act like this leper
To have no fear of the crowd
And real faith in Your power
Help me to cast aside
All pride and doubt and fear
Falling at Your feet in worship
To receive Your healing now
.
Jesus, Jesus
You healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
.
And when I meet others
Who are in sickness bound
Remember You live in me
With your healing power
Help me to cast aside
All pride and doubt and fear
And with Your great love reach out
Your healing power to deliver
.
Jesus, Jesus
You healing power
Bought many to you
In their needs hour
