Matthew 12:9-13 Meditation

“Then Jesus left them and went into the synagogue where he encountered a man who had an atrophied, paralyzed hand. The fault-finding Pharisees asked Jesus, “Is it permissible to perform a work of healing on the Sabbath, when no one is supposed to work?” They only asked him this question because they hoped to accuse him of breaking the Jewish laws. He answered them, “If any of you had a lamb that fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn’t you reach out your hand and lift it out? Isn’t a man much more valuable than a lamb? So of course, it’s always proper to do miracles, even on the Sabbath.” Then he turned to the man and said, “Hold out your hand!” And as he stretched it out, it was restored, exactly like the other.” Matthew 12:9-13 TPT

The Pharisees knew of Your miracles
Knew You could heal the man
Yet that knowledge did not lead them to faith
For they did not think they needed saving

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it

The Pharisees had come to show
That You could not be God
Use Your love and mercy as trap
To get You to break God’s law

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it

The Pharisees did not understand
The real point of God’s Law
Was not to show we could perform it
But cause us to seek God‘s mercy

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it

You spoke of how God values
Every single person‘s life
And to demonstrate His mercy
You healed the man’s hand

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it

The man with the withered hand
Was willing to receive
Stretched out his hand just as You asked
And was made whole again

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it

The Pharisees with pride-hard hearts
Gained nothing from their knowledge
But the man who trusted You Jesus
Gained God’s mercy and healing

God’s love and mercy Jesus
Was what You lived daily
Giving healing and forgiveness
To those who would receive it
