20. Remade

.

My heart was stubborn and stony

Living my life for me only

I struggled to love

Struggled to give

In Your love Lord Jesus

I could not live

.

But You gave me a new heart

Took away the old

A tender, responsive heart

So I’m no longer cold

Your law of love

Is now central to my heart

The power to live it

Your Holy Spirit imparts

.

My spirit was broken

Damaged by sin

With no strength to love

No desire to let You in

In Your presence Lord Jesus

I could not live

.

But You gave me a new spirit

Took away the old

A spirit joined to Yours

In Your strength made bold

Your law of love

Now governs my life

Your Holy Spirit’s Presence

Love, joy and peace imparts.

.

Jesus I thank You

Now I’m made new

Jesus I praise You

You’ve remade me like You!

Took away the old

A tender, responsive heart

Your law of love

Is now central to my heart

Your Holy Spirit imparts

A meditation on:

Ezekiel 36:26-27 NLT “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”

Jeremiah 31:33 NLT ““But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
