Trusting In God

“That’s what the Scripture means when it says: “I have made you the father of many nations.” He [Abraham] is our example and father, for in God’s presence he believed that God can raise the dead and call into being things that don’t even exist yet.” Romans 4:17 TPT

Abraham left his home
To follow God’s calling
Left friends and family
To trust in God’s promises
Though he was childless
For very many years

He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

God had promised Abraham
He would father many nations
Though for many many years
His wife remained barren
But when Abraham was 100
His first heir and son was born

He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

When Isaac Abraham’s son
His one and only heir
Was still a young man
The pride and joy of his father
God asked Abraham
To sacrifice his son

But He trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

Abraham knew by then
God could be trusted
To call into being
That which eyes had not seen
And raise from the dead
Those untimely in the grave

So he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

In Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice
His beloved, only son
We see a picture of the terrible price
God would pay one day for us
Abraham’s faith God would provide
The lamb in Jesus would be realised

Because he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

With all that he was and had
Even his one precious son
Abraham trusted in God
To be faithful to His word
To be kind and forgiving
Loving and providing

Because he trusted in God
And his faith was rewarded
In God’s Presence
Abraham’s faith was grounded

Now through Jesus sacrifice
We have God’s Presence in us
For God was faithful to His Word
From death to life, raising us
Re-creating us as He promised
One with Him we are united

As we trust in God
Our faith is rewarded
In God’s Presence in us
Our faith is grounded

Justice and Mercy

“Jesus’ God-given destiny was to be the sacrifice to take away sins, and now he is our mercy seat because of his death on the cross. We come to him for mercy, for God has made a provision for us to be forgiven by faith in the sacred blood of Jesus. This is the perfect demonstration of God’s justice, because until now, he had been so patient—holding back his justice out of his tolerance for us. So he covered over the sins of those who lived prior to Jesus’ sacrifice. And when the season of tolerance came to an end, there was only one possible way for God to give away his righteousness and still be true to both his justice and his mercy—to offer up his own Son. So now, because we stand on the faithfulness of Jesus, God declares us righteous in his eyes!” Romans 3:25-26 TPT

Before this earth was made
God new we would reject Him
Knew we would go our own way
End up in bondage to sin
So He planned our salvation
Gave His Son our destiny
To die for our sin
And set us all free

All of God’s judgement
For all of our sin
Was taken by Jesus
Into death with Him
Now that He has risen
To God’s right hand
We can rest in His mercy
Cleansed and forgiven through His blood

God’s perfect justice
Can be seen in Jesus’ actions
Paying the price for our sin
For every infraction
No further penance or price
Needs to be paid
For in Jesus our perfect lamb
All sinful man went to the grave

God’s love and mercy
Can be seen in Jesus risen
To God’s right hand
In the throne room of heaven
Where He grants us the mercy
To sit with Him
As sons of God eternal
Fully righteous in Him

In the faithfulness of Jesus
We can take our stand
On Him we can depend
To release in us His kingdom
For as He is God’s Beloved
Holy, pure and righteous
So He gifts all that to us
As One with Him He makes us

Your Complete Wholeness

“Even King David himself speaks to us regarding the complete wholeness that comes inside a person when God’s powerful declaration of righteousness is heard over our life. Apart from our works, God’s work is enough. Here’s what David says: What happy fulfillment is ahead for those whose rebellion has been forgiven and whose sins are covered by blood. What happy progress comes to them when they hear the Lord speak over them, “I will never hold your sins against you!”” Romans 4:6-8 TPT

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

One my heart was broken
From living without Your love
Once my mind was darkened
From living without Your light
But now Your light and love
Daily fill my life

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

One my heart was broken
From rejecting Your ways
Once my mind was darkened
From pride lead astray
But now Your loving voice
Daily directs my ways

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

One my heart was broken
Hurt by others’ sin
And my mind was darkened
As false beliefs set in
But now Your loving voice
Daily brings me freedom

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

One my heart was broken
By lies that satan whispered
Once my mind was darkened
By satan’s accusations
But now Your loving voice
Is my daily re-creation

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

It is a gift
Of love divine
That heals me
And makes me One
With You God
The Perfect One

God it’s Your complete wholeness
That comes to me
As You declare me to be righteous
For eternity

You Provided The Way

“Since there is only one God, he will treat us all the same—he eliminates our guilt and makes us right with him by faith no matter who we are… no one earns God’s righteousness. It can only be transferred when we no longer rely on our own works, but believe in the one who powerfully declares the ungodly to be righteous in his eyes. It is faith that transfers God’s righteousness into your account!” Romans 3:30 & 4:5 TPT

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

Like the child who has abandoned
His parents loving home
Taking all my inheritance
To do life on my own
Squandering my blessings
On riotous living
I have nothing to offer You
But a person by sin broken

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

Like the son who has worked
Daily by Your side
Thinking that what he does
Will win him the prize
Of being your beloved
In Your blessings rewarded
I have nothing to offer
But a person bound in pride

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

You offer Your love freely
For You have paid the cost
To set me free from sin and death
Into Your righteousness
To raise me from death to life
Seated with Christ by Your side
A child of Your kingdom home
With Your Beloved Son now One

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

You eliminate our guilt
For Jesus took it to the grave
You give us Your righteousness
With Your goodness, we you save
It is such a blessing
To know all my sin
Has died with Jesus
And in You I am re-made

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

Thankful I cannot earn it
But to ALL it’s freely given
I rejoice in Your righteousness
The blessing of Your Presence
For now I am Your child
With a son’s inheritance
Living in Your kingdom
Filled to fullness with Your essence

There is nothing I can do God
Nothing I can say
That will make You love me more
For You provided the way
To make me right with You
As in You I put my faith

Righteous Eternally

“Where, then, is there room for boasting? Do our works bring God’s acceptance? Not at all! It was not our works of keeping the law but our faith in his finished work that makes us right with God. So our conclusion is this: God’s wonderful declaration that we are righteous in his eyes can only come when we put our faith in Christ, and not in keeping the law.” Romans 3:27-28 TPT

When I think I can boast
In doing work for God
Looking down on others
For their sins and failures
Your Spirit whispers to me
Of how I need a Saviour
For I can never be perfect
Never by works earn Your favour

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

When I’m struggling with sin
Struggling with temptation
I cannot overcome it
With my strength and determination
For when I think I can see
Without Your help a way forward
Sin clouds my judgement
And pride becomes my fall

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

When I think I have wisdom
To deal with situations
That I can know Your ways
By just Your rules and regulations
Map a path forward
That leads me to heaven
Jesus reminds me
Of the Pharisees leaven

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

When I seek to judge
The actions of others
Pointing out their sins
And their moral failures
Thinking I have lived
A better life than them
You remind me I’ve failed to love
The way that only Jesus can

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

When my eyes are on me
Recording successes or failures
I’m not looking at Jesus
To become like my Saviour
I need to change where I gaze
Put Jesus in first place
That is the repentance
At the heart of Salvation

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

When I gaze at Jesus
See His holy life
I am moved by the beauty
Of His righteous love
The way He seeks the lost and broken
To show them God’s love
With His healing and forgiveness
And His embracing righteousness

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

The more I gaze at Jesus
The clearer I see my failures
How my own works
Can never earn God’s favours
But I also see the hope
See that Jesus still loves me
Reaches out to heal and save me
To give His life to me

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

The more I gaze at Jesus
Receiving His Salvation
The softer my heart becomes
With His love and forgiveness
I become more like
The One whom I behold
His Spirit flowing through me
Re-creates me in His mould

So I fall back on Jesus
As my only hope
Only He has lived a perfect life
In this broken world
And as I put my faith and trust
In His saving work
God You declare over me
“You are righteous, eternally.”

Acquittal

“Yet through his powerful declaration of acquittal, God freely gives away his righteousness. His gift of love and favour now cascades over us, all because Jesus, the Anointed One, has liberated us from the guilt, punishment, and power of sin!” Romans 3:24 TPT

Jesus, the Anointed One
Has freed us from the guilt of sin
Taken all our punishment
Broken sin’s chains which held us in
So we can receive God’s righteousness
And live a life full of God’s goodness

On the cross as He was dying
Jesus took our sins into him
Took to His death the burden
The body of our sinful person
So we could all be freed
To righteous life through His resurrection

In this public declaration
In His beloved Son’s execution
God revealed His answer to sin
The death that we could take in Him
To free us from sin broken hearts
To kill the power of sin over us

In Jesus’ resurrection
We see God’s public declaration
Of the power of righteous living
To give us the total freedom
To live as God’s beloved Children
In the fullness of His kingdom

When we choose Jesus as our Saviour
His death is ours, from sin to free us
And His righteous resurrection
Gives us our new life and direction
Living life at God’s right hand
Enjoying God’s love, favour and blessing

All this God has freely given
Though His Son’s life it cost Him
His love would not leave humanity broken
Bound in sin, doomed to destruction
Instead He raised them all to heaven
To live the righteousness He’s given

To the suffering of this world
God has provided the only answer
To remake a sin broken people
In the image of His Son Beloved
So we can live His righteousness
Healing this world with His graciousness

Your Righteousness

“This gospel unveils a continual revelation of God’s righteousness—a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith, to the power of living by faith. This is what the Scripture means when it says: “We are right with God through life-giving faith!”” Romans 1:17 TPT

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

When we believe in Jesus
As Your Son, our Saviour
You give us the precious gift
Of Your righteousness

All the good things You have done
It’s like You credit them to us
All the goodness that You are
You in us empower

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

Your righteousness that we receive
Educates our thoughts and deeds
Teaches us to be like You
In all that we say and do

As we see and understand
Your righteousness in love’s actions
We become what we behold
Sons of God, in Jesus’ mould

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

When days are dark we turn to You
To see the way you would have us come through
Your righteous, Your loving path
That You highlight and empower in us

When our path seems blocked
We rejoice in Your holy light
Your righteous love that fills our hearts
Until Your victory You highlight

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

In relationships with others
Your righteousness love empowers
Enabling us to live at peace
Even when confronted by enemies

And when the path seems clear ahead
You righteousness it keeps us safe
On the narrow path of love
Living You in all our life

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

And when at night we rest our head
Your righteousness empowers rest
Knowing that where we may have failed You
Your righteousness covers all our sins

On this journey we call life
Your righteousness it is our guard
Keeping us as Your true children
While teaching us to live Your kingdom

God we receive Your righteousness
Given to us as we believe in Jesus
A perfect righteousness
Making us right with You forever

Favour

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.   Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.” Isaiah 61:1-4, 7 NIV

Lord each day that I am sick
Adds to my burden of pain and grief
Yet it is not mine to carry
For You have died to take it from me
Giving me joy in return for sorrow
Giving me peace and hope for tomorrow

So I open up my heart to You
And find You are there in my pain too
Nailing it all to Your cross
Taking into your death every pain of loss
Washing away with Your precious blood
All the damage everyone’s sin has done
Renewing me with Your eternal love
Restoring me in God‘s favour

Lord each time that I am hurt
Because of unkind actions or words
Or because I fail to meet the standard
That I think your holiness demanded
I remember you have died to give me
Your whole and holy life for eternity

So I open up my heart to You
And find You are there in my pain too
Nailing it all to Your cross
Taking into your death every pain of loss
Washing away with Your precious blood
All the damage everyone’s sin has done
Renewing me with Your eternal love
Restoring me in God‘s favour

Lord every time I feel I am lost
Alone, abandoned, and unloved
Thinking maybe no one cares
I remember that you are always there
Taking that heaviness into your death
Replacing it with joy in You instead

So I open up my heart to You
And find You are there in my pain too
Nailing it all to Your cross
Taking into your death every pain of loss
Washing away with Your precious blood
All the damage everyone’s sin has done
Renewing me with Your eternal love
Restoring me in God‘s favour

Lord all my sickness and my grief
The fears and doubts that you could ever love me
Come not from You, but the enemy
They are lies You came to defeat
They died with You on the cross that day
So I could live in God’s eternal favour

So I open up my heart to You
And find You are there in my pain too
Nailing it all to Your cross
Taking into your death every pain of loss
Washing away with Your precious blood
All the damage everyone’s sin has done
Renewing me with Your eternal love
Restoring me in God‘s favour

What ever I lack, what ever I am missing
Of living in God’s favour and blessing
Wherever I have shut God out
Believing I need walls for my protection
These are the lies You took to the cross
Giving me Your favour to replace my loss

So I open up my heart to You
And find You are there in my pain too
Nailing it all to Your cross
Taking into your death every pain of loss
Washing away with Your precious blood
All the damage everyone’s sin has done
Renewing me with Your eternal love
Restoring me in God‘s favour

The Problem With Sin

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

When Eve listened to the serpent
She was captured by his sin
The lies that he spoke
Completely took her in
Then the forbidden fruit
She had been free to ignore
Now seemed to be the fruit
That was the most desirable

So Eve ate the fruit
That by God had been forbidden
And gave some to Adam too
For it looked good to both of them
Then their eyes were opened
And they saw what they had done
Their rejection of God’s wisdom
Could not be undone

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

Adam and Eve
Now saw how they were damaged
No longer perfect
Of God a broken image
So they hid from each other
And in fear they hid from God
Shame destroying their unity
With each other and God

When God challenged them
To confess their sin
Adam blamed Eve
Eve blamed the serpent then
Neither could admit
It was their own bad choice
For now fear and shame
Controlled their actions and thoughts

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

Because of His great love
God made covering for their shame
Clothes to cover Adam and Eve
Their nakedness and pain
And then He banished them
From His garden, Eden
So they could not eat from the tree of life
And remain eternally broken

But sin did not stop
With this first generation
As Adam and Eve’s children
Became sin damaged persons
When Cain saw
His brother favoured by God
He took His brother’s life
And lied to cover it up

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

Sin’s rejection of God’s wisdom
Is seen in each generation
The lies, shame and fear
Good relationships breaking
We seek to hide the damage
Try to prove we’re good by actions
Try to hide behind
Our own attempts at perfection

When God offered His people
His law as their redemption
Knowing they would need His help and power
To ever live it in action
They chose instead
To keep their distance from God
Do not come near us, they said
We’ll keep your law to perfection

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

As God’s chosen people
Attempted to live His laws
They took pride in their achievements
Let ritual cover their flaws
Success in this life’s business
Was considered God’s approval
So their hearts became hardened
To poor and broken people

It was in God’s chosen people
That Jesus Christ was born
In a humble stable
On that glorious morn
The true image of God
Once more present on this earth
Because the fullness of God
In His Son was present

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

Jesus was so kind
And loving and forgiving
Healing all those who sought it
His real power revealing
He taught about God’s kingdom
And lived it’s true values
Showed how it was our hearts and minds
That was the core problem

The religious and powerful
Who saw Jesus living love
Could only see His failure
To live God’s law like them
Fearful of God’s power
So evident in Jesus’ life
They chose to kill the Son of God
Have God’s love crucified

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
We need to be reborn
And live with God as one

But God in His kindness
Let us have our way
So we could see in Jesus’ death
How we’ve all gone astray
So we could see how real
Was our rejection of God
See it was God’s own very heart
That died for our sin

But God did not stop there
For Jesus’ sinless life
Meant that death could not hold him
He rose to eternal life
And His death and resurrection
Are now our open door
To become one with God through Him
And without sin be reborn

The problem with sin
Is it breaks our hearts and minds
So what is right seems wrong
And what is wrong seem right
And we cannot heal ourselves
From the damage we have done
But through Jesus we can be reborn
And live with God as one

Jesus is the Way
The Truth and the Life
To bring as back to God
So we can live by God’s side
He has died our death
Given us us His eternal life
To heal all sin’s damage
So we can live with God as One
